Installation

canonic ships as one distributable (CLI + local daemon). Local embeddings are an optional add-on.

Primary channel for dev machines:

uvx canonic --version        # ephemeral, no install step
uv tool install canonic      # persistent, global command

Fallback for environments without uv:

pip install canonic

For CI, headless, or air-gapped environments:

docker pull ghcr.io/mischuh/canonic:latest

Package and image names shown throughout these docs illustrate the shape of each install channel. Exact names are confirmed per release.

Air-gapped install

Install from a local wheel directory with no outbound network calls during install:

uv pip install --no-index --find-links ./wheels canonic

canonic --version
